Synopsis
Skai wasn’t born, she was made. She sees herself as an empty husk, a body without a soul. While Aija—her unwelcome companion—challenges Skai’s dark outlook daily, it isn’t until their home is overtaken by a monstrous force that Skai truly begins to understand what life is worth.
About
Astral is a work-in-progress. It’s something I started writing as far back as high school, though the current story is (I’ll admit it) nothing like the original. Despite the two having little in common, the fact that it changed bit by bit over a long period means that it’s, in my mind, the same story.
Originally called Cephai, it was (and still is) centered around the idea that souls are real, and they exist on a plane outside of our observable universe. Cephai (now spelled sefai), is the name of the first soul.
After writing Spectral, I spent some time tinkering with the language that would be used in the series, and decided on simpler phonetics. Cephai became sefai for spelling consistency.
